The Woman Who Has It All.

I'm sure you know her.

She's the one whose clothes are neatly pressed, nails perfectly manicured, whose house is immaculate, and who works fifty hours or more a week.

She is everything you (ok, I) am not.

But I'm trying.  I'm really, really trying.

One of my secret resolutions for the new year was to be the best me.

I know, I'd make Mama Oprah proud (Love you, O!).

And I've really tried to stick with it--I'm eating better, I'm staying active, and I've been on top of all of my work stuff.

But then there's me.

The me that everyone sees.

I am always tired.  My hair is flat. My nails are broken and unkempt.

I am a wreck.

I think you can even see me through my blog--my lack of posts, the lack of humor in said posts...

Perhaps I'm being too hard on myself, but seriously?  I don't feel great.

I feel like there's this person inside of me just waiting to bust a move in the outside world.

But instead she's buried in papers, laundry, and all the rest of the mundane chores a woman has to do every day.

So, this weekend, I decided I'd change all that.  I worked hard all weekend on getting the house organized and in order.  I took time out for a manicure and pedicure.  I stayed out in the sun and got some good ole Vitamin D.

I woke up this morning and reality hit me: Sundays are reserved for laundry, cooking, cleaning, and generally un-fun things.

And you know what happened when I hung my clothes up in the laundry?

I chipped the polish off of my perfectly manicured nails.

Calgon, take me away.

Please.
